The massive estate of businessman and philanthropist Bill Gates was profiled in a 2020 video tour on YouTube.
The Gates estate, at 1835 73rd Ave. NE, Medina, Washington, was built in 1994, when Gates and his now-former wife Melinda named it “Xanadu 2.0”. The 66,000 sq. ft. dwelling has seven bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, and a 23-car garage.

The entryway welcomes visitors warmly. The adjacent sitting room, with its handsome shelves and use of natural woods, works well for informal conversation among one or two guests.

The formal dining room enables breathtaking views—morning, noon or night—thanks to its wall of glass.

After a satisfying meal, guests may enjoy a film, projected in the property’s state-of-the-art theater.

Elsewhere within the home is an outdoor bedroom suite. In the name of privacy, the curtains may be drawn; however, when left open, sleepers can bask in the fresh air. Should things get too chilly by the lake, the fire feature provides warmth.

When the Gates’ wanted a night’s respite indoors, the master bedroom provided posh comfort, echoing the upscale aesthetic of the rest of the home.

Another bedroom provides interesting décor. The artwork above the bed is not a painting; rather, it’s an electronic screen, on which a library of images can be changed at will.

In the average home, entertaining a large group of guests can be a challenge. Not at Xanadu 2.0. This onsite reception hall can seat 200 guests.

Interested in some light reading? The massive library is a bibliophile’s dream. Inscribed on its ceiling is a F. Scott Fitzgerald quote from The Great Gatsby: “He had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it.”

The lower level also features architecture designed to maximize the site’s breathtaking vistas.

Numerous estate homes have a pond on their grounds. Bill Gates, not to be outdone, stocked his with trout that are catchable, cleanable, cookable and edible with little delay.

That pond isn’t the only water feature. Of course, there’s a breathtaking pool. Its infinity architecture enables spectacular views, day or night.

The Washington State home of Bill Gates has been appraised at $134 million. Additional details about Xanadu 2.0 are at YouTube.
