Claire Danes — the multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild award winner — has decided to sell the Manhattan townhouse she purchased with husband Hugh Dancy, himself a stage and screen performer.
Mansion Global’s Zoe Rosenberg reported the listing.
The Danes-Dancy Townhouse on Manhattan’s Downing Street
The Danes-Dancy home is in New York’s West Village on Downing Street; they purchased it in 2012 for $6.88 million.
The couple renovated the Greek Revival townhouse, adding modern amenities without blunting its 1880s character.
“The home beautifully marries modern living with original West Village charm,” said the listing agent. “[The rooftop terrace] is the home’s gem, designed for exceptional outdoor living and entertaining with spaces for lounging, dining with the outdoor kitchen with a fridge, ice maker and propane-fueled Ooni Koda pizza oven … . [I]t offers classic views of West Village rooftops and One World Trade Center.”
The Living Room: A Modern Sanctuary
The living room maximizes natural light and materials, including wood-planked floors and a stone fireplace surround.
The Family Room: A Mid-Century Retreat
The family room beyond is furnished in a more mid-century feel. But the classic elements, including another fireplace (nonfunctional), have been stylishly incorporated.
The Kitchen: A Culinary Haven
The kitchen is the very definition of organization, maximizing space without a hint of clutter.
The Bedrooms: Luxurious Retreats
It’s easy to imagine two hard-working performers finding peace in this bedroom and its adjacent bath.
An additional bedroom works for either children or overnight guests.
The Rooftop Terrace: Outdoor Oasis
The crème de la crème of this property is the rooftop terrace, one of three outdoor access points associated with the home.
