Stage and screen icon Bette Midler is moving on from her New York City penthouse at 1125 Fifth Avenue and 94th Street.
Kathryn M. presented its sumptuous details for Dwell.
The residence spans three floors atop the skyscraper, with its main access on Floor 16, where the expansive entryway entices visitors inside.
That first level has been designed for a natural flow among its three most prominent spaces, including the living room. It features a wood-burning fireplace with a handmade, ceramic tile surround. It’s attractive but can’t compete with the spectacular views from the nearby windows.
The open floor plan ensures that the kitchen boasts strategic proximity but doesn’t overstate its role in the unencumbered, free-flowing aesthetic.
The entire top floor has been given over to a bibliophile’s dream: space for a massive library.
This is one of three sleeping quarters in the apartment; sadly, it is not Ms. Midler’s, which most likely sports a design that is more over-the-top (and fitting of her personality) than this.
The unit opens to a 900-foot rooftop garden whose views are unmatchable.
Bette Midler’s former triplex penthouse is listed at $50 million. A full description of its treasures can be found at Dwell.
